The daily notes:
- In case you missed it, the Yankees signed first round pick OF Blake Rutherford earlier today. He received an over-slot $3.282M bonus. His Tommy John surgery is scheduled for Friday. (I kid!)
- RHP Chad Green, C Gary Sanchez, OF Ben Gamel, and OF Aaron Judge have been named to the Triple-A International League All-Star Team. Congrats to those guys. The game is July 13th.
- SS Jorge Mateo, who has been slumping for a few weeks, told Guy Curtright he’s flying open at the plate and is working to close his stance. He said his slump has nothing to do with the work he’s put in at second base.
- And finally, 1B Nick Swisher was placed on the Triple-A restricted list earlier this week. He left the team to be with his wife, who is giving birth to their second child. Congrats to them.
